I Wish We Had Forever (Harbour Village Book 3) Kindle Edition
A scorching hot, brother’s-best-friend, bad-boy/good-girl, fake-marriage standalone romance in the small-town Harbour Village series!
I’ve been pining for Abel Miller since we were teenagers. He’s sexy as hell, and has always played a starring role in all my fantasies. Too bad he only sees me as his best friend’s little sister.
He’s also a broody playboy who takes home a new girl every night, while I’m looking to find forever with someone. Abel and I couldn’t be more different.
But when my dad gets sick and says he just wants to see me safe, settled, and happily in love, Abel shocks me by offering to pretend to be my husband.
Now I’m living with the man of my dreams in his luxe bachelor pad as his fake wife. Plot twist: it only has one bed. Which isn’t a problem, until he accidentally walks in on me naked and I wind up bent over the couch with him on his knees between my legs.
Turns out my feelings weren’t so one-sided after all. But Abel swears he’s too much of a bad boy for the type of relationship I’m looking for, and warns me not to fall in love with him.
Can I convince him he’s always been the one for me? Or am I just headed for heartbreak by wishing we had forever?
I WISH WE HAD FOREVER is book three in the standalone interconnected Harbour Village series.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2025What a great story! Jessica Peterson-you are my new fav author! Thank you for writing such great stories! Now I am going to start on Lu & Riley’s story…(I didn’t read them in order on purpose). Yes, some is “given away” by not following the correct order. But each novel is great as a standalone too!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2025There’s nothing better than a man who’s a touch morally grey except when it comes to his girl.
Abel is the town player and everyone is fully aware of his reputation. But he’s the way he is because he can’t have the one woman he’s wanted his whole life.
Jen is the little sister of Tuck and she has been head over heels for Abel since they were young.
She never thought she end up happily married and with a family until they all get some news from their dad and it’s not great.
Abel and Jen fake date/ marry and during the time they are “together” they realize what their lives have been missing all along…..each other.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2024“I Wish We Had Forever” is probably my favorite book of the Harbour Village by Jessica Peterson. While the novel can be enjoyed as a standalone, it's worth noting that Jen and Abel's story is intertwined with the first two books. Jen is a self-proclaimed "good girl" on the hunt for "the one" who will commit to a future together and start a family, so she can finally get behind the wheel of her dream car: a Honda Odyssey van. Abel, on the other hand, is Jen’s brother’s best friend with a reputation for being a ladies' man with a revolving door and a commitment phobia, which stems from the pain of his upbringing. Despite this, Jen's father, who had taken care of Abel when his own father couldn't, drops a bombshell on them: he has cancer and his last wish is to see them both happy.
In a bid to grant Jen's dad's wish and help him focus on his recovery, the two friends decide to fake a marriage. But as they play the roles of newlyweds, their chemistry ignites and they both realize that their feelings for each other run deeper than they previously thought. The forced proximity of their fake marriage only fuels their passion until they can no longer deny the true nature of their relationship. Despite the challenges they face, they both begin to recognize the depth of their feelings and the possibility of a future together. But will Abel be able to get beyond his feelings of self doubt that he can actually make someone happy for a lifetime? Will Jen be able to mend the relationship with her brother after he finds out about their “marriage”?
This story is an emotional rollercoaster, filled with heartwarming moments between Abel, Jen, and her family. The struggles that each character faces are raw and relatable, and within the first few chapters, readers will find themselves tearing up. Jen and Abel's romance is both steamy and sweet, leaving readers feeling both satisfied and fulfilled. If you haven't read any of Jessica Peterson's books before, I highly recommend diving into her work. She has a gift for crafting stories that are both engaging and heartwarming. I, for one, am eagerly anticipating her upcoming River Ranch series and can't wait to see what she has in store for Jen's best friend, Molly.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2024IN LOVE. I'm in love with Abel, with Jen. With heir bond and the love they have and give to everyone around them. It's everything. I'm in love with this WHOLE damn town. Because why wouldn't you? Life goes slower on Bald Head Island. There's a bunch of sweet people and Abel lives there.
Jessica has a way of captivating your heart from the beginning. You deep dive into people's lives and it's all you need to bond with those characters. You feel with them, you cry with them and you're happy with them in the end.
My favorite passages in this book. Because witnessing all this love is just everything you need and more.
~ “Be proud of yourself, son.” Joe gives my shoulder a squeeze. “You know how to love someone well. Love them for who they are.” I swallow, thinking about how Jen’s in love with all sides of me. The dark and the light. How she’s welcomed both, inviting me to show up fully as I am. No alterations. No holding back.
~ “I think I learned how to love like that from Jenny.” Joe’s smile deepens. “She’s good at that, loving people for who they are. Makes you feel safe, doesn’t it?” “Yes,” I breathe. “Safe. Great way of putting it.”
~ “Your experience will be different than your daddy’s, Abel. Look how it already is. I know you’re worried that something bad will happen to y’all. And bad things will happen, that’s just life. But y’all have deep roots. A strong foundation built on years and years of friendship. Whatever storms that come y’all’s way, there’s a very good chance you’ll survive them.”
~ “You needed extra proof that you aren’t like him after y’all talked. That makes sense. You didn’t realize you were creating your own pattern all this time—a pattern of love. Hope. Exceptional kindness. God, Abel, that is beautiful.”
Jen & Abel have my heart forever 🧡
I loved their story so much and I can't wait for a new adventure with new characters from you!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a hole in one, a hat trick for hockey fans,a grand slam for baseball fans
There is nothing I can think of not to like in Jessica's books. I'm 74 years old and probably have good old memories of my own as I read. She keeps me glued to the book. I'd say my housework is not up to par, but at this point, who cares, Abel and Jen were more important.

5.0 out of 5 stars Predictable but heart warming read
A very predictable storyline but nonetheless was a lovely read. Done real steamy sex scenes to keep it interesting and of course the happy ever after finale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved this series
My review ⭐⭐⭐⭐ spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I loved this entire series but I'd say this was probably my favourite. It had a bit more spice than the first 2 and there was no third act breakup. Definitely worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars She saved the best for last
There are so many things to love about this Harbour Village Series. The third and final book, I Wish We Had Forever, seals the deal for this being my favourite series of all time from author Jessica Peterson!
First of all, Jen is just so sweet and good and kind. I love that her feelings for Abel never once change. And I also adore that the good girl goes bad in the most fun way possible.
Abel too, has always loved Jen, and despite believing he’s unworthy of love, and especially of her, he’s always been loyal and sweet to her.
Together… well their pretend marriage goes nuclear between the sheets (and numerous other surfaces) and they’re absolutely swoon worthy when they’re not dancing in the dark. Abel is an expert at making Jen happy. And come on Jen… a cooking lesson for his favourite meal?! They make me melt even a day later…
I’m always grateful for skipping the unnecessary breakup. A love this perfect would have hurt to breakup, all to have them back together a few pages later. Thank goodness for Papa Joe and his amazing insight that gets Abel right back on track for happily ever after.
In fact, this book is so dang good and Abel so perfect, I’m making him only my eighth GOATBB (Greatest of All Time Book Boyfriend). Sigh…
Thank you Jessica! I’m so excited for your cowboy era coming next!
